The NCBA Taytay Campus celebrated the rich and flavorful traditions of Southeast Asia during the ASEAN Food Exhibit on August 30, 2025, held at the NCBA Gymnasium as part of the NSTP-CWTS Batch Lakandiwa ASEAN Celebration.

The event showcased authentic dishes and desserts from across the ASEAN region. Singapore delighted the crowd with its world-famous Hainanese Chicken Rice, Malaysia brought forward the savory and aromatic Nasi Lemak, while the Philippines highlighted its culinary heritage with adobo, suman, and kutsinta. Yet, it was Indonesia that stole the spotlight with its iconic Nasi Tumpeng, a dish rich in symbolism and flavor, which earned the title of Top Main Dish and secured Indonesia’s dominance in the competition.

Team Indonesia led by group leaders Anjella Kismett and Lady Jade Superio emerged as the overall big winner, sweeping major awards such as Culinary Creativity, Flavors of ASEAN, Sweet Sensation, and the highly coveted TasteMaster Award. Their success underscored not only culinary excellence but also a celebration of the deep cultural meaning behind their food.

Other highlights included Thailand’s recognition as Best Booth, Cambodia’s nod for Innovation in Fusion, and Singapore’s double win as People’s Choice and Cultural Harmony Awardee. The Philippines earned the Heritage Dish Award for showcasing timeless favorites that reflect the heart of Filipino culture.

The ASEAN Food Exhibit became more than just a culinary contest—it was a celebration of unity in diversity, with food serving as a bridge that connected cultures, traditions, and the vibrant community of NCBA. Indonesia’s remarkable sweep stood as a testament to how food can tell a nation’s story while leaving a lasting impression on everyone who tastes it.
