On May 9, 2025, Ms. Katrina C. Senosin, Bachelor of Secondary Education graduate, Magna Cum Laude, Batch 2010, pride of the Liberal Arts Department of National College of Business and Arts Fairview Campus, now Grade School Assistant Principal at the School of St. Anthony, Lagro Quezon City, a dedicated author and coordinator at Brilliant Creations Publishing Inc., delivered an inspiring talk entitled “Beyond Chalk and Talk: Engaging the Alpha Generation” to education students from the 3 campuses. Her session focused on understanding the unique characteristics of Generation Alpha and how educators must adapt their teaching strategies to effectively connect with these learners.
Ms. Senosin organized her discussion into three creative segments: Very Demure (studentprofile), Very Mindful (instructional procedure), and Very Cutesy (assessment and feedback).
A key message from her talk was the importance of truly knowing your students to be able to cater to their needs. And with today’s evolving, tech-savvy students and their decreasing attention spans, it is crucial for educators to understand that traditional teaching methods no longer work for Generation Alpha.
With this in mind, teachers must learn how to adapt to the ever-changing educational scene. Because while these digital natives possess the tools and resources to learn, as Ms. Senosin quotes, “The majority of them still think that their teachers are very important in their learning or development.”
