In response to the rising heat index in Metro Manila, which has affected campus activities, the National College of Business and Arts (NCBA) launched the Greening Project, a sustainability initiative aimed at beautifying the campus and promoting environmental consciousness.

Student organizations have taken the lead in planting a variety of vegetables and plants to combat the heat and support sustainability efforts. The Junior Financial Executives (JFINEX) kicked off the initiative on March 3, 2025, by planting mung beans, followed by the Human Resource Management Association (HRMA) on March 5 with eggplant. The Junior Management Association (JMA) contributed tomato and chili on March 6, while the NSTP-CWTS 2 Batch Alpas joined the movement on March 8 by planting vegetables, fruit-bearing trees, succulents, and orchids.

On March 11, the Hospitality Management Society (HMS) planted okra, continuing the momentum for campus sustainability. The movement grew even further on March 14, as three more organizations stepped up. The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) planted bell pepper, the Council of Liberal Arts Sagacious Students (CLASS) cultivated sitaw and pipino, and the Information Systems Society (ISSOC) planted mustasa.

More than just a campus beautification effort, this project supports NCBA’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly Climate Action (SDG 13) and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11). It also serves as a platform for student leadership and collaboration, especially as we celebrate National Women’s Month, recognizing the contributions of JFINEX President Chloie Gomez, HMS President Maridel Tingcang, and HRMA President Lyka Macas in leading their respective teams.

Through these collective efforts, NCBA student leaders continue to take action in fostering a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future! Stay tuned for more updates on the NCBA Green Project!
